What to wear?
When attending classes, the most important thing is to be comfortable and to wear something you can easily move about in. Some of our weekend club nights specify a dress code, but there is no dress code for our weekly classes.
Shoes? Comfortable every-day shoes are fine when you are just starting out. Make sure you have something which stays securely on your feet (eg. no flip flops!) and which you can spin easily in (very high heels or trainers with sticky soles are not recommended!). After a while, you may want to invest in some dance shoes - ask us about our selection of styles at the Lindy Hop Shop.
Do I need a partner? No! The majority of our classes are rotational (although it is usually possible to stay with one partner if you wish) so you will have the opportunity to dance with lots of different people which is the best way to learn to lead & follow in the dance. We pride ourselves on making our classes and club nights very friendly & sociable nights, so please don't worry about coming on your own - there'll be lots of people to dance with! Occasional Sunday workshops may require you to book with a partner (e.g. Aerials workshops) but this will always be stated in advance.
Do I need to book? The majority of our classes & dance nights are drop-in so you do not need to book in advance or sign up for a whole course. Pre-booking is available for our Sunday workshops & we encourage you to pre-register as we sometimes have to limit numbers for these classes. Some Sunday workshops may be by advance booking only (e.g. Aerials) but this will always be stated.
