Get ready for a new hip swinging night coming to The Hippodrome this Spring. "Jay's Jitter Jive" will have you swinging and spinning all night long. With a live 8-piece band led by trumpeter Jay Phelps the fantastic Lauren Dalrymple on vocals. Playing the likes of Duke Ellington, Jimmy Lunceford, Lionel Hampton, Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Cab Calloway and much more.

This is a unique chance to catch the original line-up of this iconic swing/jazz band. For one night only, the band will be fronted by the charismatic double bassist and vocalist 'Jarrod Coombes' who will be taking a night off from his regular bands Hullabaloo and The Keytones. Joining him on vocals will be the UK's finest swing singer 'Louise Cookman' who is a regular with the BBC big band, James Langton and the Pasadena Roof Orchestra.

Ronnie Scott's Rejects explore the great show tunes of the 1930s and 40s made famous by Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Peggy Lee, Doris Day, Billy Holiday, Etta James, Nat Cole, Ray Charles and Louis Jordan.
The band has released an album under the name 'The Rag and Bone Club'. It features original jazz compositions by the band along with original takes on old classics.
The evening's entertainment will be preceded by a beginner's fun swing-dance lesson by Simon Selmon. No partner required, just turn up!

Join Simon & Jess as they bring a wealth of experience of Blues dancing from Slow Drag, Foxtrot, Ballroomin', Tango, and Juke Joint to combining authentic styles from the 20s, 30s and contemporary fusion.
Simon ALHC Blues champion 1999 has been dancing and teaching Blues internationally since 1990. Joined by Jess who performs and teaches social Ballroom, Burlesque and Swing.

Swingin' the Blues

A full day of dedicated Blues workshops &
fabulous Swingin' Blues Ball.
Now in its 14th year, this annual event attracts dancers from across the UK who want to develop their style & techniques & explore the Blues
Throughout the day a range of specialist workshops (covering dance styles from the 1920s Laminu to the sensual latin movements of Kazumba) will offer and insight onto this most diverse of dance forms. As in past years the instructors will be picked from the most experienced & exciting performers & teachers in the UK.
The Swingin' Blues Ball
Three rooms of sumptuous music & oodles of atmosphere provided by a wealth of talented DJs who will dispense a diverse range of phat tunes to satisfy the most demanding & eclectic of tastes.
The music for the evening will be provided by the top Blues DJ's in the UK including Mr Simon 'Kicks' Selmon, Dave 'Utopia' Rokov and last, but by no means least, Nigel 'Jump'n'Jive' Anderson.
Simon & Jess - Simon, ALHC 1999 American Blues Dance Champion twice UK Lindy Hop Champion, Simon is undoubtedly one of the most influential swing dancers of the modern era will be teaching with Jess, Gold level International Ballroom & Latin instructor.
Nigel & Nina - The Double UK Jive & Showcase Champions, Nigel & Nina have now been performing and teaching together for over a decade.
Val & Dave - UK Blues champions and Jive Masters Grand Finalists, Dave & Val bring with them an immense wealth of experience to this years teaching line up.
