SECTION 2
Workshops:
To ensure that you have the best weekend possible and get the most out of the workshops, please fill in the questionnaire below so that we can identify your Lindy Hop and dance experience. Take time to answer the questions to help us place you in the correct group.
There will be four groups who will each receive five x 1 hour 10 minute classes plus four 1 hour taster classes over the weekend - a total of almost ten hours tuition!
You will be assigned to your group
(Ellington, Basie, Lunceford & Webb) at registration on the day of the event.
NB. Booking with a partner
If you would like to be in the same class as your partner you will both need to complete a form and state your partner's name. Please note that if your levels of dancing differ, you will be placed in a group suited to the less experienced dancer.
Our Promise :We will do our best to ensure an even balance of leaders and followers in each workshop.
1. Which Category/ies best describes your current level of Lindy Hop?
If you feel you are in between categories, please tick the two closest.
You can pick a maximum of two. Please be honest! A. I am a beginner to Lindy Hop - Bring it on!
B . I'm in the early stages of learning Lindy Hop. I've taken a few classes & know the Lindy Turn but still struggle with it on the dance floor. I've seen the Back Charleston but never use it socially.
C . I've taken a few Lindy Hop classes but keep reverting to my old style when I dance socially. I've learnt Lindy Turn variations, some Charleston variations and can switch between 6 and 8-count but know there is more to learn, style to acquire and I still need to improve my existing repertoire.
D. I still go to beginners classes as well as intermediates because there is always something new to learn. It's starting to come together! I know what I'm doing - but I just don't always find myself where I expect to be on "8". Someone out there has the key getting me to the next level.
E. I have taken more Lindy classes than you've had hot dinners. I can cope with fast Lindy routines and also enjoy that slow Lindy groove. Although I can happily social dance all night long to practically anything the DJ can throw at me, I notice others on the dance floor doing new moves - teach me!
F. I've made it. I am a confident Lindy Hopper! Different Lindy Turns, Charleston variations and switching between 6 & 8-count are all second nature to me. I'm sure on my feet but ready to be challenged again: I'm interested in what makes some dancers stand out on the dance floor.
G. I've picked up Lindy Hop, turned it around and upside down, placed it back on the floor and stomped my own footprint on it. These days I have forgotten as many moves as I can remember. I'm on the look-out for some really fresh ideas & technique and I know the value of taking a master class in basics.
H. I'm well known in my area for teaching Lindy Hop, perform to a professional level and/or have won some Lindy Hop competitions. I never stop learning and I know I can learn as much from the other students in the class as from the teacher.
